Heal the Body, Heal the Mind, Heal Life as you know it.
When we take the choice to Live our lives as they were meant to be lived, it means we recognize that we are not walking this world just because we are flesh and bones, but because we are part of the Spirit of our world too. Which is why our world is a good reflection of our inner health and states of mind. Always and without fail.
Many times we find that we want to change something, and with some people change everything, in our lives and world, but we don't really seem to ever make it to the point where we actually live the change we want so bad. When we look deeper in the why it is like this, most times you find that all roads lead not back to Rome but back to You! The one asking for change, shouting for change, seeking change. So lets take a pause on the noise and indignation and ask, if we really want to change the frustrations of our environment, what are we doing to deal with the frustrations in our own livity? Before we start to raise campaigns on the log in another persons eye, how about we remove the Plank in ours, and start to figure out how we begin on that all elusive changed life and world.
On a basic level, it all starts by cleaning up. Cleaning up our act, our environment, our lives. Until the dirt is removed, the space will never be conducive for any kind of change that is worthwhile. A change that is Bright and Fresh and full of opportunity. When we are cluttered with lots of baggage and crap we carried around for ages...some falling apart and rotting, stinking up the environment we hope to grow better in, we remain unable to appreciate the beauty of a clean start. The future of a blank slate. The opportunity to re-create,a better and more lasting happiness and spirit of up-fullness.
A good place to start cleaning up is in our most immediate environment. A very good place to start in that most immediate environment is the most immediate environment of your own body, into your home and by that time into the world that you step out into when you walk out the door to face each day. The beauty of this starting point is it creates a situation where inevitable rays of positive energy stream from our personal clean slate converting all negativity to pure and clean positive! By changing ourselves we change our environment. By deciding to start clean, we leave no room for any cobwebs and dark corners where dirt and grim can fester.
As we start to clean we must remember that it is a simultaneous process of cleansing our bodies of the toxic build-ups from the kind of foods we eat and the things we put into out bodies on a daily basis. From surface products for our our hair and skins to ingested and inhaled, we have to begin to ask the effects these have on our physical and psychological health. Its also a process of cleaning up our spiritual walk for that guides the body to its uplift-ment or down-pression, and the clean up of our mindset and thought patterns - the focus to which we place our mind that challenges us to seek and create beyond the current state.
When we clean our bodies we start cleaning up both our spiritual and thought patterns. The process is linked and cannot be separated one from another. Without the forward movement on one, the forward movement of all is impossible. This is true especially when we are seeking more than just cosmetic change.
In dealing with our bodily clean-up, we ask ourselves what is it that we are unhappy or feeling dis-ease about. Are we ill frequently from anything as basic as headaches and stomach pains to issues of addiction and lack of self-esteem and worth. Many illnesses considered 'normal', and i mean things like Ulcers, high blood pressure, skin problems, period pains, headaches...All these things to which we pay so much money to treat, in medication and counselling or therapy, have their origin and solution in the things we put in our mouths.
According to Food and Mood -the mind guide (http://www.mind.org.uk/help/medical_and_alternative_care/food_and_mood-the_mind_guide#really affect)
- Flactuations in blood sugar levels are associated with changes in mood and energy and are affected by what we eat.
- Brain chemicals influence the way we think, feel and behave. They can be affected by what we eat.
- There can be abnormal reactions to artificial chemicals in foods, such as artificial colorings and flavorings (i would add preservatives)
-There are rections due to the deficiency of an enzyme needed to ingest a food. For example Lactose is needed to digest lactose (milk sugar) without it a milk intolerance can build-up. Or morning sickness being the deficiency of certain vitamines K and or D.
and we could go on and on....
So where to start when we look and find that many of the things we eat are causing us more problems that solutions? How about with water. It is the Most Vital substance for healthy mind and body. Followed closely by fruits and vegetables. How much should we have of these? Everyone must find their perfect balance. Starting with these means that you provide the flush of the water to remove impurities and toxins and the nutrients of the fruit and vegetables to nourish the body and mind all in one go. The cleaning process has begun.
When viewing our daily routines, we should remember not to skip breakfast, and to keep regular meal times. It will probably we alot easier if we start by making changes slowly. Changing what we eat can be hard and will take alot of sampling and trying out of new and creative things to reduce the tendency to lapse back into the old and destructive eating patterns we are trying to change. We should remember though that these changes in diet will produce some unpleasant side effects as our bodies go through the clean-up process to take our bodies to the optimum levels. Some of these side-effects include headaches and stomach upsets, skin breakout and mood swings, but these last only the first few days, but perseverance shall bring significant rewards and benefits to our mental and physical health.
My body has been asking me to reduce the intake of certain things...I have decided to radically change my whole lifestyle and take on as my mantra, 'food is my medicine and my medicine food'. These are just very general guides, each one should explore their general health and begin the journey to a holistic approach to their health and life changes. Remember it cannot be about just one little change, it's all or none!
Blessings as you journey!
